The music albums I post here are free! I use Megaupload, a free online storage service. Installing their toolbar is not required! Here's what you need to do to download an album:

Click the DOWNLOAD link at the bottom of the post. This will launch the Megaupload page in a separate tab. There's a four letter code there that you have to type in to continue. This will take you to another page with a 45 second countdown. Once complete, the timer will turn into a big black button that says "Regular download". Click that button to download the album.

The albums I post here are stored as compressed RAR archives. WinZip and StuffIt can't open these RAR archives because they are password protected. For Windows, install 7-Zip; on Mac, install UnRarX. Both are freeware, spyware-free and are designed to extract files from password protected RAR archives. Once installed, open the RAR archive and you will be prompted for the password. Type in:

p-l-m.blogspot.com

Be sure to type the password exactly, with no extra spaces. If the password is wrong, the files may still extract, but they'll be corrupt and won't play! If you have any problems, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to help!

bôa - The Race of a Thousand Camels (1998)

bôa is an alternative rock band that formed in England in 1993. Singer Jasmine Rogers and guitarist Steve Rogers are the children of rock veteran Paul Rogers, who they opened for at their first live gig in January 1994. After playing out to critical acclaim, but no label interest, they finally received their big break in 1996 when they signed to Japanese label Polystar Records. With a title inspired by a dream of Jasmine and a computer game written by Paul, The Race of a Thousand Camels was released in 1998.

They might have remained obscure had it not been for Polystar Records' licensing of the song "Duvet" for use in the opening titles to the anime series Serial Experiments: Lain. Check out the Serial Experiments: Lain opening title sequence, scored with the abbreviated "Duvet (TV Sized)":

An actual music video for the full-length version of "Duvet" was also produced. Check it out:

The (TV Sized) version of "Duvet" appeared in 1998 on a Serial Experiments Lain: Cyberia Mix soundtrack CD. A dance remix version of "Duvet" also appears there, with remix duties handled by Chikada "J.J" Wasei (aka DJ Wasei). Based on the huge crossover popularity Serial Experiments: Lain experienced in the U.S., the American arm of Pioneer reissued The Race of a Thousand Camels in 2001. Released under the title Twilight, it includes new cover art and three additional tracks: two Japanese b-sides ("Duvet (Acoustic)" and "Little Miss") and one additional unreleased track ("Drinking"). The first and third tracks were also swapped to make "Duvet" the opening track. The Cyberia Mix CD was also reissued in the States, but minus the two versions of "Duvet"! This complete compilation also includes the one track I didn't have access to on actual CD, "Two Steps," which I located as a nice 192kbps rip on eMule. "Two Steps" is an interesting anomoly, as it is the only bôa song in this set to feature lead vocals by guitarist Steve Rogers. After a series of label delays, bôa opted to self-release their long-awaited followed up album, Get There, in 2005.

I've searched high and low for a copy of this album. Thank you so much! Boa's a great band and they deserve way more exposure than they're getting.
