The music albums I post here are free! I use Megaupload, a free online storage service. Installing their toolbar is not required! Here's what you need to do to download an album:

Click the DOWNLOAD link at the bottom of the post. This will launch the Megaupload page in a separate tab. There's a four letter code there that you have to type in to continue. This will take you to another page with a 45 second countdown. Once complete, the timer will turn into a big black button that says "Regular download". Click that button to download the album.

The albums I post here are stored as compressed RAR archives. WinZip and StuffIt can't open these RAR archives because they are password protected. For Windows, install 7-Zip; on Mac, install UnRarX. Both are freeware, spyware-free and are designed to extract files from password protected RAR archives. Once installed, open the RAR archive and you will be prompted for the password. Type in:

p-l-m.blogspot.com

Be sure to type the password exactly, with no extra spaces. If the password is wrong, the files may still extract, but they'll be corrupt and won't play! If you have any problems, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to help!

Johnboy - Pistolswing (1993)

Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot I can say about math rock outfit Johnboy, as there isn't much info about them online. I saw them open for Zeni Geva at The Boiler Room in scenic New Britain, CT way back in 1993. That was one hell of a show. It's a good thing I brought ear plugs with me...

Based out of Austin, Texas, Johnboy were signed to Trance Syndicate, a local label co-founded by Butthole Surfers' drummer King Coffey. Johnboy are a heavy trio with a sound that reminds me most of Steve Albini's Shellac. They only released one more album, 1994's Claim Dedications, before splitting. They're well worth checking out if you enjoy complex noise rock.

Johnboy - Pistolswing (1993)

6. Freestanding (3:31)
7. New Jersey Roadbase (3:41)
8. Yellow (5:26)

I - Hello,
II - I was remembering of this astonnishing band, Johnboy...
III - I got their two records, "Pistolswing" & "Claim dedication"...
IV - Some kind of "search-and-destroy" noise, i'd say...
V - I was looking after that band : i have just discovered they split... So sad.
VI - By the way, I saw Shellac year ago for the first time : Albini, Weston & trainer - three wolves on the loose... It was great, the french band "Zone libre" opened before them.

Damn! I just paid $4 for the CD. It wouldn't be a problem if any of it went to the record company or even the band. I guess that's the price I pay for not consulting Google sooner. Cheers!

I dunno, Yawn, I think $4 is a steal for the original CD of Pistolswing. There's nothing like owning the original!
