Wow! An early Christmas present! Thank you!
Thanks for this extremely rare gem!
Thank you for this rip, so that my vinyl copy can take a rest. My cover art is quite different from yours with scenes from the film on it.
The liner notes are essential to this historical release, and can be found in two images here:

About Dogs in Space, Sputnik 2 was not designed to be retrievable, so Laika the dog, like the doomed kids in the film, was doomed to die from the beginning.
Laika's death sparked a debate across the globe on the mistreatment of animals to advance science. You CAN do something.
Thanks for the great info, anon. And thanks for the scan links. Much appreciated!

Thank you from Tokyo. Always liked this version of Ollie Olsen's song, which was originally released in his old band, Whirlywirld.
Thanks for making this rarity available. Congrats on a classy blog, the care you put into it is quite apparent.
Cheers, SamIam
Thank you ...thank you...and thank you again. One of the best movie soundfracks ever! Nice blog too!!
that rar is encrypted
That's true, it is. All of my uploads here are. The password, as always, is just below the download link. If you're having trouble opening the RAR archive, be sure to read the note on the right-hand side of the page:
"Please Read This First!"
I had an old cassette version that died in a horrible car crash. Nice to have a chance to relive a strange moment
This is quite different to the cassette version I had. Most of the lyrics are missing from Diseases, and the bits from the movie have been removed. All, the Green Dragon is longer on this one.
thanks so much looking for this
cheers
wow things u find by accident! I have been lookin for this for a long time!An avid dogs fan & the music is still as strong today. Oh the memories ( or those bits that are remembered)from times long gone - emo & the beckham 'mowhawk' of today are only illusions compared to the early 80's punk, goth etc scene. Thank u 4 your efforts, much appreciated1
It's a well worn comment, but again, thanks! Like other I just stumbled across this. I was trying to find some information on the 12inch of 'Rooms for the Memory' (which I used to own but "loaned" to someone and never saw again). I was very happy to find this as it seems you can't get this for love or money..now, if I could just find a copy of the record from the old Australia ABC radio show "Ambience" I could die happy! Thanks again!
Thanks for posting this. "Rooms" is one my favourite songs, and I've never been able to find something to replace my badly scratched vinyl single.
Thank you SO MUCH! So hard to find this in such good quality! Do you know if this was taken from one of the rare CDs or from vinyl? Thanks again!
Thanks So Much, I had been looking for this for so many years.
I live outside of Oz so this brings me back many memorys.
Good Luck and God Bless
Matt
Thanks So Much, Had been looking for this for a long long time.
Great Blog.
Good Luck
SQUEEEEE!!!
This is the best soundtrack ever. I fortunately have a copy of the movie on DVD thanks to a friend with a machine to copy from my VHS.
Having the soundtrack it the icing on the cake!
Thanks so much for putting this out there!
i have the vinyl. i will try and get it recorded to cd.
Kevin, thanks very much for this, looking forward to hearing non-vinyl rips of all the songs that were censored on the most widely available LP version of the OST. I have an old cassette copy of the R-rated LP version, which does have the dialog snippets...does anyone know if the German CD had the songs butchered into wordless instrumentals as did the general issue LP OST? If so, could someone rip it and upload it for all of us?
Dang! This is a vinyl rip of the censored version, sans dialog... Several of the best songs have been stripped of their vox! Look for the uncensored version elsewhere!
Yeah, unfortunately, I've discovered that the Japanese pressing presented here features the Censored Versions of Thrush & the Cunts' "Diseases" and Primitive Calculators' "Pumping Ugly Muscle". For what it's worth, it is still superior for all the other tracks, though. There are no interrupting dialogue snippets and, as mentioned in an earlier comment, "The Green Dragon" is much longer. Still, I've gotten a hold of the uncut versions of the two tracks, but I want to hold off on re-doing this post as I have a line on getting a lossless copy of the Japanese CD to rerip! More soon (I hope)...
Both Versions were released in Australia, the so-called G and R-rated versions. The G-Rated one had a white cover, the Cunts censored, and - as has been pointed out - instrumental versions of Thrush and the Cunts and the Primitive Calculators. 'Controversial' lyrics I guess.
The Green dragon is shorter, with an instrumental version of 'Shivers' behind, much better in my opinion.
Actually, if you ask me, the R-Rated version is much more 'fun'.
'How do you know when you've had a good time?'
when you throw your nickers against the wall and they stick!
i do not use the word hero very often, but you, sir or madame, are the greatest hero in american history. i have been searching and searching for this everywhere since my record player broke and i couldn't listen to my vinyl copy any more. i also have the movie pix version and it is beautiful. i'd love to hear this longer version of green dragon, but nick cave's version of shivers is timeless. thank you SO much!
thank you so much! this is the best news i've gotten in months! i remember being introduced to this movie in 1988 by a girl named leigh when we were working in a theatre in arkansas. it totally changed my life. i'm almost embarrassed by the number of times i put 'the green dragon' or 'shivers' on a mix tape to try and impress a girl i liked! oh, young nick cave...
I found this great blog after reading a post about a list of the top 25 movies about music that you hadn't heard of yet, of which "Dogs in Space" was number 25.

Thanks! Loved this movie when I saw it in theaters as young teenager, and bought the soundtrack on cassette way back then. May still have it, but certainly don't have a good digital copy -- until now!
Thanks for the great rip. I had this on cassette back in the late 80's and loved it as well as the movie. It's nice to find gems like this unexpectedly.

Wow! I've been looking for this for over 15 years! When I was kid, I wanted to buy the soundtrack so bad at Tower Records, but I couldn't afford the $12.99 at the time. When I was a Teenager, I had a job and money, but Tower had discontinued records by that time and they didn't have it on CD.
You rock! Thank you so so much!

You so rock! Thanks a ton for putting that out there for all of us die hard Dogs In Space fans. I was so sad when I wore out my record. Also thanks for making directions so easy that even the computer illiterate (me) could do it.
Much happiness!
