The music albums I post here are free! I use Megaupload, a free online storage service. Installing their toolbar is not required! Here's what you need to do to download an album:

Click the DOWNLOAD link at the bottom of the post. This will launch the Megaupload page in a separate tab. There's a four letter code there that you have to type in to continue. This will take you to another page with a 45 second countdown. Once complete, the timer will turn into a big black button that says "Regular download". Click that button to download the album.

The albums I post here are stored as compressed RAR archives. WinZip and StuffIt can't open these RAR archives because they are password protected. For Windows, install 7-Zip; on Mac, install UnRarX. Both are freeware, spyware-free and are designed to extract files from password protected RAR archives. Once installed, open the RAR archive and you will be prompted for the password. Type in:

p-l-m.blogspot.com

Be sure to type the password exactly, with no extra spaces. If the password is wrong, the files may still extract, but they'll be corrupt and won't play! If you have any problems, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to help!

Endless 1 (1994)

Here's an interesting rarity. This was the first release from Manifold Records. The Manifold Records site has quite a bit of infomation about this release here. Here's a good excerpt that talks about the musical climate at the time of release: "This was right when Virgin Records was making the attempt to mainstream "Isolationism" and Sentrax had just put out Surgery Of Touch. So it was a heady time for anyone doing this stuff. Suddenly magazines wanted to talk to people like Mick Harris and Kevin Martin. But the fever died off as soon as they and other labels realized there was no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. Just a dark, strange pit."

Hehe, how true. Those first two Ambient compilations Virgin Records released were chock full of historically important tracks, with Volume 3 trying to cover what they called "Isolationism," the new darker style of ambient music. For me, this was an exciting time for music. This was an incredible departure from everything else I had previously been exposed to and it demanded a new level of listening attention. Eventually, I came to understand that I most enjoyed music with more structure than much of this material had to offer, but learning to listen with this new level of scrutiny is a lesson that I still value today.
